Descrição

French Decorators of the 60s and 70s, 2nd Ed., Ed. Norma, 9 inches x 12 inches ( 23 cm x 30.5 cm ), hardcover book with 336 full color pages

This hardcover book with 336 full color pages, superbly illustrated, introduces the greatest French decorators of the Sixties and Seventies, describing their life and explaining their work.
The 60s and 70s are indissociable in the history of decoration and furniture. They mark a radical turning point in a world hitherto confined to national and elitist expressions. Everything breaks out in the early 1960s. Fashion is at once Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, Italian and French. The genres mix in a frantic desire to live in symbiosis with his time. Advances in technology accredit the conviction of a conquering liberty of the individual and give rise to new desires for a new way of living, even in science fiction cells. The shapes are rounded, the seats become carpets-sculptures that make it possible to curl up in warm, fun and non-conformist universes. Decorative colors and patterns embrace the brilliance and delusions of Pop Art and psychedelia. The living space is transformed into an awakened dream where luxurious furnishings combine with unusual materials and surprising objects of all origins, combined with antique furniture.
The end of the seventies marks the advent of a time when classical beauty and elegance give way to a multitude of expressions that escape all rankings and hierarchies. The time of postmodernism has come. Composed of a long introduction which gives a synoptic vision and thirty-two monographs that describe its multiple faces, This book makes intelligible an exceptionally creative period and reveals through an abundant iconography, often unpublished, its formidable aesthetic richness.

Alessandro Albrizzi, François Arnal et l'atelier A, Gae Aulenti, Billy Baldwin, Michel Boyer, Pierre Cardin, François Catroux, Max Clendinning, Joe Colombo, Gabriella Crespi, Alain Demachy, John Dickinson, Tony Duquette, Paul Evans, Galerie Germain, Galerie Lacloche, Galerie Maison et Jardin, Jacques Grange, Marc Held, David Hicks, Jansen, Yonel Lebovici, Serge Manzon, Renzo Mongiardino, Verner Panton, Pierre Paulin, Maria Pergay, Alberto Pinto, Quasar, Henri Samuel, Charles Sévigny, John Stefanidis, Michael Taylor, Carla Venosta, Nanda Vigo...
